Heritage sites high on Cabinet’s agenda

The Punjab Cabinet meeting scheduled for February 24 would be witnessing a discussion on the heritage complexes constructed across the state. Earlier the meeting was scheduled for February 21 but due to some unavoidable reasons it had been postponed for February 24.
Sources said the discussions would take place regarding the development work and status of various cultural and heritage sites including Harpal Tiwana Academy of Performing Arts Patiala, Ishmeet Music Academy Ludhiana, Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial at village Raikot Bassian in Ludhiana district, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial, Maharaj Dalip Singh Memorial, Wadda Ghallughara Martyrs Memorial Kup Rohira in Sangrur district and Chhota Ghallughara Kahnuwan Chhambh Shaheedi Memorial. It is also learnt that decision regarding deployment of English speaking staff for facilitating the foreign visitors would also take place.
Moreover, Cabinet would be pondering over the issue of enhancing the staff in the heritage complexes as the number of visitors at these sites are much more than what government expected earlier. Sources also revealed that informal discussion may also take place regarding the security vehicle withdrawn issue as before the start of the Cabinet meeting at 10.30 am, Principal Secretary DS Bains, State Jail Minster Hira Singh Gabria, DGP (Jails) and DGP (Police) is having a meeting to settle the row created over the issue of withdrawing of security vehicle possessed by DGP Jails.
