Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today questioned the constitutional authority of the SAD-BJP alliance in rejecting the Centre's proposal to set up national counter terrorism centre (NCTC).

Amarinder said the ruling coalition was not authorised to take policy decisions as it was only a caretaker government. He said fighting terrorism was a collective responsibility of both the Centre as well as the states.

“If the Congress wins, we will review the SAD-BJP alliance decision while keeping in view the national interests and the challenges posed by terrorism. The decision should be taken by an elected and not a caretaker government,” he said.

The PPCC chief said such a decision should have been left to the next government. Amarinder criticised the SAD-BJP leadership, particularly CM Parkash Singh Badal, for "blindly toeing" the BJP line on the issue.
