AT MEETING IN CHANDIGARH, SECTION OF MAHILA CONGRESS SAYS INDIVIDUALS MUST NOT BE BLAMED

Under attack from within the party for the Congress' debacle in the assembly polls, Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday got some relief. A section of the Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress (PPMC) on Saturday asked the critics of the former CM to stop the blame game, saying that the entire state leadership was responsible for the defeat.

“Individual leaders should not be targeted for the poll debacle, and instead the whole leadership should take responsibility for the disaster,“ a press statement, issued by a number of leaders after a meeting here, said. They pointed out that the frontal organisations such as the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and the Congress Sewa Dal failed to give proper direction to the party rank and file.

As per the press release, the meeting was held at the Punjab Congress Bhawan here, and was attended by Krishna Mittu, former vice-president, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee; Rajni Mehta, general secretary, PPMC; Rajinder Kaur, member, All India Congress Committee (AICC); Mukesh Dhariwal, chief organiser (mahila), Punjab Congress Sewa Dal; Balwinder Kaur, district president of the Mahila Congress in Patiala; Sushil Narang, district president, Ropar; Neelam Rani, district president, Fatehgarh Sahib; Sweety Sharma, organising secretary; Rajeshwari, block president; Balwinder Kaur, block president, Ghanaur; Jaswant Kaur, block president, Rajpura; Sukhwinder Kaur, block president, Samana; Surjit Kaur, block president, Nabha; Jaswinder Kaur Bhullar, secretary, Punjab Congress Sewa Dal; Rakesh Rani and Jasvir Kaur.
