Congress hits out at govt for increasing taxes

Ludhiana : The Congress workers from the Atam Nagar Assembly Constituency, under the leadership of the party MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu and senior Congress leader KK Bawa, conducted a "brain surgery" on the effigies of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal as a mark of protest against the new taxes introduced by the ruling SAD-BJP alliance government in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, both Bawa and Ashu said that people were already burdened by the taxes, and the new taxes would worsen the economic condition of the state.
Criticising the SAD-BJP government, they said the state government had been following wrong industrial policies due to which the industries were shifting to other states.
Condemning the economic policies of the state government, they also said farmers, who were in debt, were committing suicide in Punjab.
