“INLD leaders are living in houses made of glass; they should not be pelting stones at others,” said Congress legislator Sampat Singh on Tuesday, while targeting Indian National Lok Dal’s chief Om Prakash Chautala, Abhey Chautala and Ajay Chautala.

While addressing mediapersons at Haryana Civil Secretariat, Sampat, a former INLD loyalist, said, “Chautalas are using uncivilised language and tarnishing the image of the Congress in the state. Repeated statements issued by INLD leaders accusing the Congress of having tainted ministers and legislators are signs of frustration. The political party, which has no legitimate issues, levels such false accusations on others”.

“The case registered against Haryana’s former Minister of State Gopal Kanda is a serious issue; but till investigations are not over, we cannot hold him guilty of the offence. “There is not a single legislator or minister in the Congress government who is guilty of any criminal charge. However, three INLD leaders, including Om Prakash Chautala, are chargesheeted in two criminal cases, on the basis of investigations conducted by the CBI. Both the cases are pending in Delhi courts. How can people with such an image target anybody else?” Sampat said.

“INLD had been claiming that Kanda, while he was yet to be arrested by the Delhi Police, stayed in Haryana for two days. We do not have any information on that. The Haryana Police was also not aware of it, else they would have passed on the information. If INLD leaders were so sure that he was in the state, then why din’t they pass on the information about his location?” he questioned.

Claiming that the Congress in the state has an absolute majority and is not affected by the Kanda issue, Sampat added, “Congress has a comfortable majority with 46 MLAs and there is no threat to the ruling government”.

While replying to queries on the tense atmosphere witnessed in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha’s last session, Sampat said, “As leader of the opposition, Om Prakash Chautala did not even raise a single question in the Vidhan Sabha, then how can he claim that his voice was not heard?”
