Amritsar: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh here on Tuesday lashed at the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal alleging that former Punjab Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike was involved in the multi-crore Border Area Development Scam being shielded by Badal himself.
Talking to media Captain said that Punjab Vigilance Bureau as well Punjab police deliberately excluded the name of Ranike in the FIR lodged as well as in the probe concluded by the Vigilance Bureau (VB).
The former Punjab Minister for Animal husbandry Gulzar Singh Ranike who has resigned recently due to the name of his PA Sarabdyal Singh was found involved in embezzling scam of border area grants. As per investigation accused Sarabdyal Singh had embezzled grants by encashing 12 cheques meant for development works in Attari constituency through dummy bank accounts.
Captain said that all hopes of transparent functioning by the VB had dashed to grounds.
Captain demanded high level probe either by the sitting judge of Punjab and Harayan High Court, Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha or by the CBI. He said that matter OF multi Crore Border Area Development Scam to be raised on the floor of Punjab Assembly during the coming session.
Rejecting the probe of state Vigilance Bureau, Captain said that former Animal husbandry Gulzar Singh Ranike was willfully saved on the behest of Punjab chief Minister. He said that all the expenditure during his last five years tenure in the same ministry to be probed thoroughly. He alleged that by excluding the name of Ranike in the probe by VB, Badal indirectly procured clean chit for Ranike.
