CHANDIGARH: A section of the People’s Party of Punjab headed by former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal revolted against his leadership alleging dictatorial functioning and misappropriation of funds.

Manpreet’s Press Secretary Arunjot Singh Sodhi raised the banner of revolt along with others and gave one month’s notice to the party chief to answer the allegations. It may be mentioned that several of his supporters have already left him and  is now virtually a loner.

Sodhi said they would not leave the party and the next course of action would be decided after waiting for explanation from Manpreet.

He said the PPP was a family affair and even the funds were being managed by the family. He said Manpreet backtracked from the three basic postulates of the party that included the denial of tickets to the kins.

He said none was consulted at the time of allotment of tickets during the Assembly elections and those who were supporting him from the beginning were ignored. He said the funds collected in the run up to the elections were not utilized for the purpose of election campaign.
