Cong plans dharna against ASI’s killing

Congress Legislature Party Leader Sunil Jakhar said today that the Congress would stage a dharna to protest against Ravinderpal Singh’s killing.

Jakhar was among those who visited the family of the deceased ASI to offer condolences. Accusing the ruling party of “criminalisation of politics”, he said the incident was a “wake-up call” for the police. He asked the Chief Minister to own moral responsibility for the incident and resign. “ The police has lost its spine and is totally subservient to its political masters”.

Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia visited the bereaved family on behalf of the state government. Among others who visited the family were National Commission for SC Vice-Chairman Rajkumar Verka, former Punjab Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu, Attari MLA Gulzar Singh Ranike and district SAD chief Upkar Singh Sandhu.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
