LUDHIANA: Several Congress leaders from Ludhiana today met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at the specially set up helipad in the Punjab Agricultural University grounds. He was accompanied by the local MP and the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari to PAU.

The Congress leaders were led by the Congress Legislative Party leader in the Punjab assembly Sunil Jakhar and included among others the Ludhiana District Congress Committee president (urban) Pawan Dewan, rural Milkiat Singh Dakha, MLAs Baharat Bhushan Ashu, Surinder Dawer, GS Boparai, ex-MLAs Isher Singh Meharban, Gurdeep Singh Bhaini, Gurmail Pehalwan and others.

Amidst the tight schedule, since the Prime Minister had to address the PAU Golden Jubilee Convocation, he spent some time with the Congress leaders and inquired about the state of affairs.

According to Pawan Dewan, the Congress leaders raised some issues during the brief interaction. Jakhar also briefed him about the state of affairs prevailing in Punjab on various fronts.
