AMRITSAR: Union Minister of Law and Justice Ashwani Kumar who visited the aggrieved family of Punjab Police ASI who was killed by Akali leader while protecting his daughter's honour today said Centre was closely watching the Punjab situation where law and order has seen a dip.

He said the family must get justice and if the SAD-BJP government was seen lacking the lack of will to punish the culprits for the henious crime, they will definitely see that the justice was delivered to the family.

He met ASI's aged father and other members of the family and assured them all the help from the Union government. He later spoke to the media persons ans expressed anguish over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

He said the state government and SAD leadership was giving patronage and support to the criminals which was evident from the recent case of ASI's killing. He said the Zila jathedars have become the heads of the police and they have tamed the police to their sweet will.

"But Akalis must understand that the rule of law must prevail. It is democratic country where the law is supreme and if soem party leader of the ruling party think that the police is their extension arm then the situation is serious'', said Ashwani Kumar.
