MOGA: Congress Legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar today told the people of Moga to ask the Akalis as what they had done for the people of Punjab. Addressing well attended public meetings in support of the party candidate Vijay Sathi in different villages here today, Jakhar pointed out, it was Capt Amarinder Singh who as the Chief Minister of Punjab saved the waters of the state.
Jakhar told the people of Malwa that had it not been the daring act of Capt Amarinder to save the Punjab waters from being given away to Haryana and Rajasthan, the entire Malwa region would have been rendered dry and barren. “Compare this with Akalis and ask them to quote a single example that could match this decision”, he said, while questioning the claims of the Akalis that they were the guardians of the interests of Punjab.
The CLP leader said, the current Akali government was dependent on the central aid only as it was otherwise bankrupt. He said, despite that the Akalis were ungrateful and would always cry wolf that they were being discriminated against.
Speaking on the occasion senior leader and former minister Darshan Brar said that with Capt Amarinder Singh staying and campaigning in Moga the Akalis had been stuck with panic. “They are totally panic stricken by Capt Amarinder’s presence”, he said, while adding, this was just the beginning as the real battle had just begun.
Brar said, the Congress candidate Vijay Sathi was certain to win with the highest margin as the Akalis were not coming in support of Joginderpal Jain. He said, they were apprehensive that he will betray them as he betrayed the Congress also.
