MOGA: Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal today said that people of Moga will give their mandate against the culture of political buying and selling being introduced in Punjab by the Akali Dal. He said, it was just one of the corrupt practices of the Akali Dal which will be denounced by the people here with a thumping mandate.
Addressing a press conference alongwith the Punjab incharge Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Sangrur MP Vijay Inder Singla, Bansal said, the people of Moga had never voted for Jain but for the Congress party and they will again vote for the Congress in this byelection as well.
He said, there was a feeling of betrayal among the people of Moga over Jain’s defection to Akali Dal as they had not elected him for defecting to the Akali Dal. He said, this culture of political buying and selling needs to be checked and nipped in the bud.
The Railway minister said, the Akalis had never taken any stand in the interest of the state or the people but for their own vested interests. He said, whether it was voting for the nuclear deal that would address the energy concerns of the nation as a whole or any other issue the Akalis never came out of their petty partisan mindset.
Maintaining that the Akali Dal government in the state had proved to be a total failure, he pointed out, the economy was at its lowest thanks to their (the Akalis) wrong policies. He said, in order to overcome their shortcomings they were now resorting to political trading, buying and selling which is against the very spirit of the democracy and will certainly be rejected by the people.
Asserting that the Congress candidate Vijay Sathi was a person of highest integrity, Bansal said, the actual credentials of the candidate do matter when it comes to voting. He pointed out, Sathi’s character was clean and spotless and people did appreciate it. He said, Congress was set for a comfortable win for the third successive time in Moga this time also.
Party incharge Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Sangrur MP Vijay Inder Singla were also present on the occasion.
