MOGA: In the last leg of his 20 day campaign on the penultimate day today, Punjab Congress President Capt Amarinder Singh today stormed the streets and roads of the Moga city in an open vehicle seeking votes for the party candidate Vijay Sathi. He got overwhelming response from the residents who showered flower petals on him and competed with each other to shake hands with him.
Mounted on an open jeep and accompanied by Sathi, the Congress Legislative Party leader Sunil Jakhar, the Punjab Mahila Congress president Malti Thapar, Punjab Youth Congress president Vikramjit Chaudhary and senior party leader Darshan Brar, Capt Amarinder started his road march from the Rajindera Memorial School at around the noon.
It took him more than four hours to cover a distance of five kilometres up to local Guru Nanak College here.
As he passed through different areas his vehicle was regularly stopped by people who wanted to list their problems and demands to him. He talked to people, shook hands and at places he was made to come down from the vehicle and deliver brief speeches.
He urged people to vote for Vijay Sathi who was a scrupulously honest person who had never treated politics as business. He made frequent references to his frugal, simple and spartan lifestyle as compared to Joginderpal Jain who had used politics for furthering his business interests and had admitted it publicly.
The road show started from Rajinder Memorial Public School and passed through Kot Kapura Road, Vaid Satpal Road, Khooni Masjit, Pahara Singh Chowk, Bahoan Raod, Lal Singh Road, Sadhan Wali Basti, Band Phatak Road, Goddewala Road, GT Road,Dosanjh Road, Nanakpura Moahla, Manchanda Colon, Basti Bobind Garh, Chakki Wali Gali, Dutt Road, majestic Road and concluded at Guru Nanak College.
