MOGA: Asserting that the Akali Dal president and the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal was in for the shock of his life in Moga, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today did not rule out the simultaneous elections to the Punjab assembly along with those for the Lok Sabha, scheduled to be held in 2014.

Wrapping up his three week intensive campaign for the Moga byelection, Capt Amarinder while thanking all the party workers and leaders who worked hard in Moga, asked them to be prepared for another period of equal hardwork as there was every likelihood of the disintegration of the Akali government after the Akalis get defeated in Moga byelection.

Asserting that the Congress was set to win the Moga byelection by a huge margin, at least double than what it was in January 2012, he said, the Akali disintegration will start that moment only and with that the government will also fall. “So don’t think your job is over, rather it has just begun”, he told his workers repeatedly during the road show organised on the last day of the campaigning here today.

Capt Amarinder reiterated that people’s mandate must not be taken for granted as Sukhbir and Majithia were doing. “And don’t take it for granted either, that you are going to last for full five years”, he warned, while adding, the countdown of this government will begin on February 28 when the results of the Moga byelection will be out and the Akalis will be routed.

The PCC President said, even a large section of Akali leadership and workers was feeling suffocated under the dictatorial, autocratic and arrogant attitude of Sukhbir and his brother in law Bikram Majithia and all of them had waited for the right opportunity to settle their score and they got it here in Moga.

He pointed out, the hostile response Sukhbir got from the public, particularly from the lawyers during Moga Bar Association function on Wednesday, was only indicative of the angry mood of the public which was going to be reflected during the Moga byelection.

Making a passionate appeal to the people to vote for the Congress candidate Vijay Sathi, Capt Amarinder asked them to compare for themselves as who was the better candidate. “On the one hand you have an honest and sincere worker in Sathi, who owns just a five marlas house and has never used politics to accumulate wealth and on the other hand you have the Akali candidate Jain, whom even Sukhbir until recent past used to describe as a smuggler”, he urged the voters of Moga while promising to return to acknowledge their support after the elections are over.

Capt Amarinder was accompanied during the road show by senior party leaders including Rana KP Singh, Rana Gurmeet Sodhi, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Arvind Khanna, Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, Dr Malti Thapar, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary and others.
