SANGRUR: Girl Students of a government school in the district have cried foul over the cycle scheme in which they were to provided free bicycles by the government.
The students and their family members have alleged that the school authorities at Government High School in Imamgarh gave cycles to girls, got pictures of the students with cycles clicked and then immediately took the cycles away from them.
The photo has been printed in the school magazine and the cycles are no longer with the girls. The students have submitted a written complaint in this regard to the SDM of the area. The school management on the other side has completely denied the allegations.
The government last year had provided free cycles to students who were needy under a scheme of the Sarv Shiksha Abiyaan. The school at Imamgarh also followed the scheme.
Jaspreet Kaur, Kamaljeet Kaur and Jashanpreet Kaur have written a complaint to SDM Rajesh Tripathi that they were given cycles last year and a picture was clicked while doing so. After sometime the cycles were taken back and the students were told that very soon they will be given the cycles back but it has been eight months and the students have not been given the cycles back. The shock came when the picture got printed in the school magazine.
Family members of the girls stated that the school management had given cycles to their daughters and then took them back. They called it injustice to their girls.
The school headmaster Gurcharan Singh denied the allegations and stated that nothing of this nature happened. SDM Rajesh Tripathi stated that the allegations were serious and he has taken a serious note of it. He said that investigations into the allegations were on and the offenders will not be pardoned.
