DELHI/CHANDIGARH: Anandpur Sahib MP Ravneet Singh Bittu raised the issue of brutal beating of a Dalit young woman in Tarn Taran by Punjab police cops on March 4 during evening zero hour session in Lok Sabha on Friday.

The Congress MP said in terms of crimes against women, it was a sorry state of affairs in Punjab and the state government was least concerned and not taking any steps to curb such incidents.

He said,"Even after the Supreme Court took a serious note of Tarn Taran incident by equating it with 'Jalianwala killings', the state government did even bother to listen plight of the girl when some Congress legislatures brought her to the Vidhan Sabha.”

Bittu pointed out that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal were yet to meet the victim.

"The government was least bothered even as the girl was getting threats to withdraw the complaint against the cops," Bittu added.
