CHANDIGARH: Reacting to the Punjab budget presented here today, Leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar said that by not keeping any provision to fulfil their poll promises, the SAD-BJP alliance had proved that the fiscal situation of the state is dismal.
Jakhar said the budget has nothing to offer rather the debt on the Punjabis would further enhance to Rs.1,02,282 crore by March 2014 from existing 86,453 crore, courtesy ill-polices of the state.
"Its rueful that nothing has even been proposed to reduce the year by year increasing budget. Finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa should have clarified why the government failed to upkeep provisions made in their last year budget," Jakhar stated.
"Why they did not deliver Rs.4039 crore earmarked for the welfare of Dalits, Atta-Dal scheme for BPL families," questioned Jakhar, adding, "Ironically, they could not facilitate Rs.22.75 crore to Unemployed youth under Swaran Jayanti Rozgar Yojna, funded by Congress led UPA government.
He said that the finance minister only carried forward the laptop to give free laptop to students in this budget too, the same he assured in last budget. Moreover nothing was mentioned about Rs.One Thousand allowance to unemployed youth in this budget, he added.
"Strangely, they had reduced the budget allocation for the SC/ST and other from Rs.786 (last year) to Rs.737 crore. There is none in the governmental to watch the interest of urban inhabitants as its funds had also been reduced to Rs.663 crore in the new budget while last the figure was Rs.772 crore," he pointed out.
