CHANDIGARH: Even though Akalis are being criticized for their Goa conclave and spending lavish time on tax-payers’ money, the party managers have claimed that Shiromani Akali Dal has spent around Rs 30 lakh on the ‘Chintan Shivir’.

Party president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal claimed that not even a single penny has been spent from tax payers’ money.

As per party sources, the main expenditure was hotel bills and air tickets. The party claims to have spent Rs 6,000 per room including three meals.

Akali Dal has booked around 60 rooms at Taj Holiday Village and Taj Fort Agauda, which are being shared by MLAs. The total cost for the accommodation makes upto Rs 10.80 lakh, as per party managers.

Sources say that around RS 12-13 lakh have been spent on air tickets including return ticket.Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal came by a chartered flight from Delhi which belonged to Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia’s company.

The sources say that incidental costs will make total expenditure to around Rs 30 lakh.

SAD president Sukhbir Badal rubbished opposition claims that government funds were being used, he said all the expenditure has been borne by the party.
