CHANDIGARH: The two-day SAD-BJP ‘Chintan Shivir’ organized at the idyllic settings of Fort Aguada in Goa concluded on Tuesday evening with an announcement that the next camp will be organized at Hazoor Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra. This is apparently being done to blunt the criticism faced by the SAD leadership for turning away from its Panthic agenda and organizing serious party conclave at a popular holiday resort.
On the concluding day of the camp, discussion was held primarily on preparing party strategy for the forthcoming Parliamentary elections. It was decided in the meeting that in order to rule Punjab for the next 50 years, the people of the state should be provided with a clean and efficient administration with a greater emphasis on administrative reforms.
Addressing a joint media conference at the end of ‘Chintan Shivir’, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the conclave had provided an opportunity to ministers, MLAs and other leaders of SAD and BJP to have a free and frank exchange of views with each other which had energized all of them. They were now going back with renewed vigor.
The deputy chief minister said that a large number of suggestions were made for preparing strategy for the Parliamentary poll. He said that the Lok Sabha polls could take place anytime, but the SAD and BJP were fully prepared to face them. He also emphasized that the maintenance of law and order in the state was the first priority of the state government.
On the basis of suggestions made during the session, police officers and other personnel with a long stay at one place would be rotated. He also made it clear that there was no proposal to set up casinos in Punjab nor was any discussion held on this issue during the conclave.
