Khaira finally appointed spokesperson for Punjab Congress

CHANDIGARH: Partap Singh Bajwa, president, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, today appointed Sukhpal Singh Khaira, former MLA from Bholath, as spokesperson of the Punjab Congress, after his candidature for the post was approved by All India Congress Committee.

Sukhpal Singh Khaira, son of former Education Minister Sukhjinder Singh, remained MLA from Bholath Constituency from 2007 to 2012. He also remained President of District Congress Committee Kapurthala from 2005 to 2010 and has also served as Spokesperson of the Party during Parliamentary elections 2009.

Earlier, on March 25, Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa had appointed his brother Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa as secretary general in-charge and Khaira as the Chief Spokesperson of the Punjab Pradesh Congress. The decision was, however, reversed by All Indian Congress Committee.
