Procurement arrangements poor: Bajwa

Khanna : Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, who visited the local grain market today, criticised the "poor arrangements" for wheat procurement. He said although the Centre had allocated the required funds for smooth procurement, the state government and the administration had failed to make proper arrangements. Farmers and commission agents were waiting payment for the past several days.
Pointing at heaps of wheat bags lying in the grain market, said lifting should be done expeditiously to avoid a glut. Bajwa appealed to the state government to announce a compensation bonus for the farmers as the wheat crop had been hit by bad weather.
