MULLANPUR DAKHA (LUDHIANA): PPCC President Partap Singh Bajwa today assured the people of Punjab that PPCC would not allow implementation of Wealth Tax on farmers and he is meeting AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on May 29 to request them to defer the proposed amendment in this regard in Finance Bill 2013.
While addressing a dharna held here against police highhandedness, Bajwa said that he had already taken up the issue with Union Finance Minister P Chidmabram and he assured to resolve the issue.
He said that the notification to impose wealth tax on unproductive agriculture land was issued in 1993. He said that Shiromani Akali Dal was raising the issue only to get political mileage.
PPCC President warned the Punjab Police against registration of false cases against Congress leaders and said that Police is failing in its primary duty of controlling crime and providing security to common people. He said that false cases were registered against three Congress MCs who are dedicated Congressmen.
Bajwa said that Congress was ready to contest Panchayati Raj elections but the ruling SAD-BJP government was hell bent to grab village Panchayats, Block Samitis and Zila Parishads by hook or crook.
He said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal rose to ranks from Sarpanch of his village and it is shameful that now he was trying to block deserving candidates from opposition to win the elections.
Bajwa said that SAD leaders should not live in illusion that they will every time befool the people and win the elections. He said that in democracy voters are powered to change the regime.
Sunil Jakhar CLP leader said that Congress party would expose the misdeeds of SAD-BJP government in public. He said that this government has survived on false promises and people now understand their game plan.
