BATHINDA: Following the attack on his party worker Lakha Sidhana and other workers, PPP chief Manpreet Badal on Thursday alleged that the ruling party could kill even him to win the Bathinda seat in the next Lok Sabha elections.
Manpreet appealed to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to maintain law and order in the state, saying, “Pichhle panjah salan ton lok ohna (Badal) nu bardaasht karde aa rahe han, iss layi umar de antam padhau vich lokan te reham karan ate Punjab vich ghatto ghatt kanoon da raaj tan bahaal karva den (People have been tolerating you for the past 50 years, so in his last phase of life, the CM should have mercy on people and at least maintain law and order in the state.”
Manpreet alleged, “After forcibly making our party workers join their party, the ruling party has now started attacking our senior party workers, who tried to guide people, but the ruling party wants people to remain in the dark.”
Following the attack on his workers, Manpreet, who reached Adesh Institute, Bathinda, where Balvir and Lakha Sidhana were admitted, said, “It is a conspiracy by the police and miscreants. It’s a political murder as the police wrongly booked Lakha under the Arms Act for carrying an “illegal” weapon whereas the truth is that the police themselves brought the weapon from Lakha’s house and booked him under political pressure.”
Holding education minister Sikander Singh Maluka responsible for the attack, Manpreet said, “We are going to file a petition in the high court to get security for all the workers because the police neither provide us security, nor do they save us from any such attacks.”
Meanwhile, SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann said, “The police and the district administration cannot escape the responsibility for the attack. The police are wrongly registering cases against the candidates of rival parties for keeping the weapons of their relatives whereas the workers of the ruling party are roaming freely carrying weapons.”
