Mohali: Former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh appeared before a district court in connection with the Amritsar Improvement Trust (AIT) scam here on Monday. The court has extended the hearing in the case to May 18.
The Vigilance Bureau had booked the former Punjab Congress chief on September 11, 2008 in a land scam involving the Amritsar Improvement Trust. The Vigilance Bureau has already filed a chargesheet against Capt Amarinder in this case before a special court in Mohali.
Later, interacting with the media, Capt Amarinder reiterated that the setting up of a memorial to those killed in Operation Bluestar inside the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar was wrong.
Condemning the brutal attack and subsequent death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in a Pakistan jail, he said this was a very unfortunate incident.
On the forthcoming elections, the veteran leader said the Congress party was fully prepared to win provided the elections were held in a fair manner.
He also denied any sort of groupism in the party.
