Nominations papers of 38 candidates for village Sarpanch rejected in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: Nominations of 38 candidates for the village sarpanch and 195 for the panchayat members were rejected during scrutiny of the nominations papers done today.

Shruti Singh, Deputy Commissioner-cum-district returning officer for the panchayat elections said that after the scrutiny, 3395 candidates for the election of sarpanch and 12075 for panchayat members remained in the field. She said that in total 3433 nominations papers of candidates for Sarpanch and 12270 for the Panchayat members were received.

She said that 9 nomination papers of the candidates contesting for sarpanch and 30 for the panchayat members were rejected in Jalandhar East block, five for sarpanch and 35 for the panchayat members were rejected in Jalandhar West block, three nominations papers for the panchayat members in Adampur, 12 nominations papers for the panchayat members in Bhopur block, 9 for sarpanch and 22 for panchayat members in Nakodar, 7 for sarpanch and 13 for panchayat members in Mehatpur, one for sarpanch and 31 for panchayat members in Shahkot, two for sarpanch and 30 for panchayat members in Lohian Khas, one for sarpanch and two for panchayat members in Phillaur, one for panchayat member in Rurka Kalan and four for sarpanch and ten for panchayat members in Nurmahal block were rejected.
