CHANDIGARH: Paramjit Singh Sarna, former president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and chief of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi), has come down heavily on Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for hailing the elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the incharge of the Bharatiya Janta Party's campaign committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Blasting the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) patriarch, Sarna said Parkash Singh Badal’s support to Modi was “unfortunate for the minorities and a black day for Sikhs”.
“By displaying their open support to Modi, Badal and his son Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal have proved that they are not serious about the protection of the rights of the Sikh community,” Sarna lamented.
“BJP's single-point agenda is to eliminate the minorities like us (Sikhs) and establish ‘Hindutva’ but we will not let that happen. Delhi Sikhs will vehemently oppose Modi's appointment in the Parliamentary as well as Delhi assembly polls,” Sarna remarked angrily.
Sarna said by supporting Modi who is the enemy of all religions but Hinduism, the Badals have disrespected Sikh traditions and the ideology of the Sikh Gurus who preached secularism and love for all religions.
