LUDHIANA: District Congress Committee (Urban) president Pawan Dewan has strongly condemned the new policy of the state government for colonizers and property developers.
Addressing a meeting of the party’s block presidents at Congress Bhawan here today, he added the new policy framed by the state government encourages bureaucracy and corruption. He alleged that this was another step towards giving shelter to existing mafia with an objective to increase prices of essential commodities. He opposed the state government’s announcement of setting up a condition for seeking NOC either PUDA or Municipal Corporation from concerned agency for getting sale deed registered at the time of sale of property.
He said people were already facing harassment with the functioning of Municipal Corporations and the new decision of the state government would further aggravate the situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Leader of Opposition in general house of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Hem Raj Aggarwal and senior Congress leader Parminder Mehta said colonizers were constrained to come on the roads following the state government’s decision to increase fee for regularisation of unauthorised colonies in Punjab. They said this step of the Punjab government would give a poor impact in economy of the state, adding economy of the state was already aheading towards darkness due to anti trade and industry policies of the state government. They said poor economic conditions were forcing the youths towards drug menace, resulting to which the youths were indulging into incidents of crime.
The Congress leaders regretted that on one hand the state government did not have funds for making payment of salaries to the employees and on the other hand economic burden was being put on the government exchequer by buying BMW cars.
Block presidents including Baljinder Bunty, Satwinder Jawaddi, Jarnail Shimlapuri, Kanwardeep Puppi, Sanjay Sharma, Gurmukh Singh Mitthu, Vinod Bathla and Manpreet Grewal were present.
