SAMRALA: Partap Singh Bajwa President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today announced that Congress party was open to political alliance with all secular parties in Punjab for the coming Lok Sabha elections.
While addressing at a function organized to felicitate newly elected Congress supported Sarpanches and Panches here, Bajwa said that Congress party was always ready to join hands with likeminded parties having nationalist approach. He said that Congress party would not allow communal forces to take over the reins of this country. He predicted that UPA 3 government would be formed at the center with thumping majority. "We will win all the Lok Sabha seats in Punjab to knock out unholy and opportunist alliance of SAD-BJP", he added.
Bajwa said that he would start tour of all the 117 assembly constituencies from July 22 to mobilize party cadre for the coming Lok Sabha poll. He said that he would tour four assembly constituencies every week-two in Malwa and one each in Majha and Doaba. He said that Congress workers had presented a bold face during recently concluded Panchayat, Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections. The Congress has won substantial chunk of seats in these elections and party workers are enthusiastic to take head on with the ruling SAD-BJP alliance in Lok Sabha polls.
Bajwa said that unemployment and poor and law and order in Punjab were two major issues which are seriously affecting the people of state. He said that Congress party had decided to launch concerted campaign to register names of unemployed youth in the employment exchanges. He said that all MLAs had been asked to register at least 1,000 unemployed youth by the end of August, 2013 and also put their data on the PPCC website.
He further said that SAD-BJP government had in its election manifesto made promise to pay unemployment allowance of Rs.1000 to each of the qualified youth who are not able to get jobs. He said that state government has no record of unemployed youth and employment exchanges are lying defunct due to shortage of infrastructure and staff. He estimated that about 65 lakh youth was unemployed. He said that SAD-BJP had won the last assembly election on false promises with all sections of society.
Bajwa said that law and order in Punjab was disturbed from the day one SAD-BJP government had taken over. He said that day light murders, robberies and rapes were order of the day. He said that for the first time Punjab had witnessed gang wars between rival groups of Shiromani Akali Dal in the Panchayat electrons. He said that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had proved a failure as Home Minister.
Bajwa congratulated the newly elected Sarpanchs and Panchs and told them to prepare for the major battle for Lok Sabha seats. He said that SAD-BJP alliance had misused official machinery including Police and State Election Commission to hijack the Panchayati Raj elections. He said that Congress party had lost about six dedicated workers but fought tooth and nail against the highhandedness of ruling alliance.
Others who addressed the function included Sukhdev Singh Libra MP from Fatehgarh Sahib, Amrik Singh Dhillon MLA Samrala, Malkiat Singh Dakha President, Distt. Congress Committee Ludhiana Rural and Kamaljit Singh Dhillon PPCC Treasurer.
