JALANDHAR: PPCC president Pratap Singh Bajwa said today that the candidates for all the 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab would be announced six months prior to the poll schedule.
Interacting with the media persons at Kartarpur, about 15 km from here on Jalandhar-Amritsar Highway, Bajwa said that this would be done to bring an end to any type of confusion about the party candidates and to shun the practice of changing candidates at the eleventh hour. He said that the SAD-BJP government had failed on all fronts and had not fulfilled the promises made with the people in the manifestos of both the alliance partners. He ridiculed the statements of the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal boasting of speedy development of the state and implementation of various welfare schemes including shagun and old age pension schemes.
He said that every section of the society including traders, industrialists, general public and even the government employees are a worried lot today facing heavy dose of taxes. He said that the state government had imposed a burden of Rs. 12, 000 crore taxes on the public taking the tax structure to Rs. 42, 000 crore which was nearly Rs. 30, 000 crore only about fifteen or sixteen months back. He said that it was also alarming that the state debt had witnessed a severe jump raising it to Rs. 1 lakh crore.
He said that the government was also befooling the public on the economic front. Cash stripped state is witnessing every day the announcement of new projects whereas the hard fact is this that the Punjab State Power Corporation was collecting power bills in advance from the power consumers to hide financial crunch.
Referring to the new Colonization policy of the state announced by the deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, the PPCC chief alleged that the micro colonizers had been barred to do real estate business to pave way for the giants with whom a deal in the ratio of 30:70 had been struck.
Bajwa accused the SAD-BJP government especially the SAD leadership for rigging Panchayat polls using money and muscle power besides affecting the polls by suing fake voting slips.
