MANSA/ BATHINDA: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa in a startling revelation has claimed that people who attacked IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu in Uttarakhand were that day in constant touch with Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka ‘through’ his driver.

Bajwa said his claims were on the basis of an intelligence input.

Kahan Singh Pannu has been this week shunted from the post of Director General of School Education (DGSE) to agriculture department as Secretary. It needs no mention here that it was Pannu who had spilled beans over the alleged textbook scam in the education department putting scanner on Maluka’s role.

Pannu’s attack was a pre-planned conspiracy, which is the reason the state government sent him to flood-hit Uttarakhand instead of a disaster management officer, claimed Bajwa.

“All the phone calls from the phone of accused that day have been traced to mobile phone of Maluka’s driver. All the accused are from Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda) and associated with Balbir Singh Sidhu, inducted to Shiromani Akali Dal by Maluka,” the Congress leader revealed.

Reacting to Akali Dal dismissing his demand for judicial probe into the incident as political gimmick, Bajwa replied in Punjabi: Je eh vi gimmick hai, fer te Guru Maharaj Sahib hi bakshish karan ehna te (If this is also a gimmick, may Guru Sahib prevail good sense upon them).

Bajwa alleged that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was shielding Maluka only to save his daughter-in-law Harsimrat Kaur Badal from losing in Lok Sabha polls from Bathinda constituency. They will need Maluka’s support as he is district president of Akali Dal in Bathinda.

“Badal de gall rassa piya. Chad oh sakda nai. Usdi majburi hai (Badal has noose around his neck. He is helpless and can’t even remove it),” he said.
