MOGA: A senior youth leader of People’s Party of Punjab and seven others were injured in a clash between PPP and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) workers at Kaila village in Dharamkot subdivision of district Moga on Wednesday.

Davinderjit Singh alias Ladi Dhose, vice-president of PPP youth wing suffered serious injuries on head and was taken to district hospital where he is said to be out of danger.

Dhose’s father Kuldip Singh is senior vice-president of PPP.

He alleged that newly elected Akali sarpanch, Sukhwinder Singh and his two brothers had snapped water supply to the house of a PPP supporter Jaspal Singh alias Maahna.

Jaspal Singh was defeated in panchayat polls by Sukhwinder Singh.

Ladi alleged that when another PPP supporter Jagtar Singh took the matter of water supply with the sarpanch, the latter forcibly took away his son to his house and thrashed him.

He said family members of Jagtar and some PPP supporters rushed to sarpanch’s house which was locked but when they knocked the door, Akali supporters pounced on us with sticks and stones.

The clash left five PPP supporters and three Akali workers including sarpanch injured.

SSP Surjit Singh Grewal said legal action would be taken as per law and criminal case would be registered against all involved in clash, irrespective of political affiliations.
