Tarn Taran/jalandhar : PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa today visited flood-affected areas in the district. He alleged the state government had failed to provide timely compensation to the affected people. He said about 50 villages in the district had been affected and crops over 50,000 acres had been damaged, but the district administration had not provided any relief to the residents.

He said a new dhussi bundh should be constructed near the river flow. Bajwa said funds under the Indira Awas Yogna be used for re-constructing houses damaged in the flood-affected areas.

Accusing the Badals of having driven Punjab to fiscal bankruptcy, Bajwa said the SAD-BJP Government was “devising ways to sell prime sites to reduce fiscal deficit”.

Addressing a meeting of party workers at Kartarpur today, Bajwa alleged that intra-department borrowing was being routed through PUDA which had been assigned to sell prime assets of the state to some vested interests at undervalued prices on the pretext of raising funds for development works.
