JALANDHAR: Partap Singh Bajwa President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today questioned the motive of Istanbul visit of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and also wanted to know from him if his visit was sponsored by state government of some private company.
While addressing a meeting of party workers here Bajwa said that visit of Sukhbir Badal to Turkey was just a leisure trip on the expenses of tax payers of Punjab. He asked the SAD-BJP government to reveal the purpose of visit and expenditure incurred by Deputy Chief Minister.
Bajwa asked Sukhbir Badal to be realistic and stop bluffing on his so called dream projects. It would have been better if he introduced himself to basic problems at home. He said that Deputy Chief Minister was in the habit of day dreaming and creating euphoria of development.
He said that Sukhbir Badal had time and again been making false promises with people. He ridiculed the claim by Sukhbir Badal to copy Instabul model of Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) and Solid waste management project. He reminded Junior Badal that he had announced Personal Rapid Transport System (PRTS) for Amritsar and Ludhiana two years back and also laid the foundations stone in December 2011. The metro and mono rail projects for Mohali and Ludhiana and Express Highway between Mohali and Amritsar had also not seen light of the day.
PPCC President said that for the last over 50 years SAD leaders were selling false dreams to people of Punjab. Many a times Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his predecessors promised to make Punjab California and what the hell of Punjab they have made is for anybody to see. The Badals seem living in fool’s paradise, he added.
He said BJP leaders of Punjab were fuming against Badal duo for not taking them along to Instabul even though the civic projects were in their domain being in charge of Local Bodies department. He said that announcements being made by Sukhbir Badal from Instabul would fall flat like other fake projects flouted by him.
Bajwa said that Sukhbir Badal had no inkling of economic position of Punjab. He must first take steps to improve the economic position of state and announce action plan to improve the fiscal health and restore law and order in the state.
Bajwa reiterated that SAD-BJP government was paying salaries to its staff by selling the public properties and referred to mortgaging of PUDA Bhawan in Mohali to secure Rs.500 crores loan. He said that PUDA was asked to mop up another Rs.500 crores by selling government properties. He said that no new investment was coming to Punjab due to unfavorable conditions. He said that SAD-BJP government had failed to win over the confidence of investors. Even the two NRI Sammelans held by Badals had failed to bring investment of single penny.
Bajwa said that Land acquisition Bill passed by Lok Sabha would make land acquisition pro-farmer. He said that UPA government had taken into account the problems of farmers while drafting bill. Bajwa meanwhile, thanked the UPA government at center to start direct flight from Amritsar to Melbourne and Sydney in Australia. He said that earlier Air India had started direct flight to Birmingham in UK. He said that he would take up with the Union Aviation minister to restore the direct flight between Amritsar and Canada which was discontinued.
Bajwa also flayed SAD-BJP government for poor civic amentias in Jalandhar. He said that a ten minutes rain turns the whole city into pond of water. He said that Akalis had promised to make Jalandhar model sports center but it has even lost its face value due to poor maintenance.
Others who addressed the meeting included Shamsher singh Dullo, Mohinder singh KP, Tarlochan Singh Soond, Amarjit Singh Samra, Ch jagjit Singh, Ch Santokh Singh, Avtar Henry, Joginder Mann, Anil Dutta, Varinder Sharma, Rana Randhawa and Jagbir Brar.
