CHANDIGARH: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Sunil Jakhar lodged a strong protest over the failure of the Vidhan Sabha secretariat and the SAD-BJP government in providing the advance copies of the six amendment Bills introduced on Tuesday and passed without a discussion.
“We are wasting time and public money. We don’t know the implications of the Bills being introduced as their copies have not been circulated to us,” Jakhar complained repeatedly. Other Congress MLAs also repeatedly pointed this out to the speaker.
Senior Cong ress leader Ashwani Sekhri was among the other party leaders who time and again informed the speaker that the amendment bills being introduced were not given to them.
“We don’t know the implications of the Bills and why they are being introduced. We suspect your intentions,” Jakhar said.
“We didn’t get the bills….electricity bills indeed we did get,” Sekhri quipped.
The assembly passed the Pepsu Tenancy and Agricultural Lands (Amendment) Bill-2013, Punjab Security of Land Tenures (Amendment) Bill-2013, Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets (Amendment) Bill-2013, Punjab Privately Managed Recognised School Employees (Security of Service) Amendment Bill2013 to replace the ordinance, Punjab School Education Board ( Amendment) Bill2 0 13 also to replace the ordinance, and the Punjab Prohibition of Cow Slaughter
(Amendment) Bill-2013.
