Jalandhar : Coming to the defence of PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa on the shamlat land issue, a number of Congress leaders today accused the SAD leadership of having adopted double standards on the matter.

Flaying Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for asking Bajwa to resign, the leaders said the SAD should take action against its senior leaders who had been violating law.

Addressing a press conference here, PPCC spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira said: "Action should be taken against Chief Parliamentary Secretary NK Sharma, adviser to the Chief Minister Kamal Oswal, Bibi Jagir Kaur and the Punjab DGP. All of them have been facing serious charges".

He was accompanied by Congress leaders Anil Dutta, Varinder Sharma and Satnam Bitta.

"The matter in case of Bajwa is sub-judice. The government cannot order an inquiry into it. Bajwa has been targeted as he is heading the party effectively. The SAD wants to demoralise the Congress cadre by resorting to such acts," said Khaira.
