New Delhi : The campaign for Delhi Assembly finally came to an end at 5 pm on Monday, with the usual claims of clean sweep being made by the traditional rivals-the Congress and the BJP.
Interestingly, not leaving it to be within the two, the recently emerged Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also concluded its formal campaign with the same claim of getting clear majority in December 4 Assembly Polls.
Having no doubt about Delhi Assembly being much important for the whole country looking at, top leaders, including BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi along with his party colleagues L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely, Vinod Khanna, Navjot Sidhu, Ravi Shankar and many others campaigned hard in support of their party candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the SAD (B) Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal also remained here for couple of days to ensure the BJP-SAD alliance wins the polls. They were also concerned about the four candidates the party fielded, including two on its poll symbol “scale”.
On the other hand, the observers found the Congress leaders to be lagging behind in comparison. While Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi did hold just one rally each, against the expected series of such, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh opted not to address a single one, which made Sheila Diskhit to face media queries a number of times.
Among others, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, BSP Chief Mayawati all campaigned hard in support of party candidates.
