Muktsar : People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Singh Badal today said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of Arvind Kejriwal had done in Delhi what he could not do in Punjab.

“The AAP has given the signal that first-time parties too can turn the tide. The victory of the AAP is a good sign for the nation,” he said on the phone. On the difference between the PPP and AAP’s style of functioning, he said: “The AAP contestants were newcomers and not associated with any party. This worked in their favour.

“Further, the AAP received money from the public as election fund, which we did not do.”

Enthused by Kejriwal’s success, he too would bring about changes in the PPP, he added. Leaders who had ridiculed the AAP, saying it would meet the same fate as the PPP, had been proved wrong, he added.
