Patiala : Former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today clarified that he was not pursuing the Panthic agenda by seeking the release of Sikh detainees.

In a statement today, he said the issue must not be viewed in partisan or sectarian terms, but on the basis of law and justice.

“It is a matter of law and justice that all thosewho have completed their sentence should be released forthwith. These detainees may be of different religions. The fact of the matter is that when they have completed their sentence they must be released,” he said. The former Punjab Congress chief said the CM could have taken steps to release the Sikh detainees languishing in Punjab jails and take up the cases of others lodged in jails outside the state.
