Jalandhar : PPCC spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira today rubbished rumours that he was joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). "I have no plans to join the AAP," he clarified.

Khaira alleged that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's "outright rejection" of a CBI probe into the international drug racket was nothing but an "attempt to shield" his ministers likely to be named by drug lord and former DSP Jagdish Bhola.

"Bhola, who has already named two Akali leaders, has said if the CBI probed the matter, he could divulge the names of three cabinet ministers involved in the racket. The disclosure has raised a question mark over the efficiency and integrity of the Punjab Police," said Khaira.

"We will move the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the matter," he said.

He alleged that Badal protected leaders like Bibi Jagir Kaur and Sikander Singh Maluka despite their involvement in several cases. Similarly, the CM gave a clean chit to Gulzar Singh Ranike even before the completion of probe against him by the Vigilance Bureau, he said.

Khaira said the SAD-BJP government should accord the Backward Class status to Jat Sikhs who had been left out of the category
