Chandigarh : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa today said the party had decided to step up its agitation to press for a CBI probe into the drug racket and start district-level dharnas from February 3. The first such dharna would be held in Ropar and the last one at Barnala on February 28.
Addressing party workers on the last day of the relay fast at Congress Bhawan here, Bajwa claimed the protest had received a tremendous response. Bajwa alleged that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia were all shielding the drug mafia.
“When the police can arrest 50-odd drug traffickers named by Bhola, why a different yardstick Majithia? if Majithia is innocent, he should not be scared of an independent probe,” the PCC chief said.
