Chandigarh : Partap Singh Bajwa, PPCC president, today flayed the SAD-BJP Government for “tricking” people in the name of atta-dal scheme which is “lying defunct” for two years.

In a statement issued here, Bajwa said Food and Civil Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon had “quietly” re-launched the scheme at Sultanpur Lodhi. He alleged Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who had postponed the re-launch of the scheme twice in two months had stayed away from the function to avoid direct criticism. “Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son who don’t lose any opportunity to lay foundation stones and distribute development funds did not launch the scheme knowing it is a sham,” he alleged.

He claimed for the last more than a year, the scheme was not operational and the poor were being deprived of their right of food.

“PUNSUP, the nodal agency for the scheme, has gone bankrupt because the state government has not reimbursed over Rs 4,700 crore spent by the agency on the scheme,” he added.
