Chandigarh : PPCC spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira, at a press meet here today, asked the Home Minister to order a CBI inquiry against his aide Krishan Kumar who had "usurped" the Rs 300 crore worth Claremont Hotel owned by an old NRI couple on MG Road in New Delhi.

“Krishan Kumar has grossly misused the Punjab Police and the office and authority of the Deputy CM to intimidate, coerce and usurp Claremont Hotel belonging to an 82-year-old NRI from the UK, Harbhajan Singh Chopra and his wife Surjit Kaur", he alleged.

Denying the allegations media adviser to the Deputy CM Jangveer Singh said: “It is apparent that the Congress, rendered irrelevant in Punjab politics, is frustrated. It is stooping to a very low level to tarnish the image of the Deputy CM who cannot be held responsible for any property row outside Punjab." He said Krishan Kumar had never been associated with the Deputy CM in any official capacity.

But Khaira said Krishan Kumar, a co-accused in the disproportionate assets case against the Badal family (FIR No. 15 dated June 24, 2003), "is known to be managing Sukhbir Badal's day-to-day affairs at his official residence 12, Safdarjang, New Delhi. He has always enjoyed Punjab Police cover”.

Khaira played a video recording of Harbhajan Singh accusing Krishan Kumar of threatening and torturing him. Another video showed NRI couple Sanjay Kriplani and his American wife Robin Kriplani accusing Krishan Kumar and the Deputy CM of registering a false case against them at Kapurthala.
