SAD-BJP charging ‘gunda tax’ in Ropar: Ravneet Bittu

Ropar:“The sand mafia supported by SAD-BJP alliance in the state has been charging “gunda tax” near the quarries in Ropar district and money collected through it will be used in the election campaign,” stated sitting MP and Congress candidate for Lok Sabha elections Ravneet Singh Bittu here on Monday.

Bittu who was interacting with the media persons after a meeting for Hola Mohalla preparations at Congress leader K P Rana’s residence, said that he as well as PPCC president Pratap Singh Bajwa have lodged a complaint in this regard with Election Commission of India.

The Congress candidate Bittu said that he had lodged a complaint in this regard with ECI and sought its intervention in preventing SAD holding their political conference at ground near Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib during Hola Mohalla this time as it will be a violation of code of conduct.

When asked about the names of Congress leaders likely to reach at political conference of party during Hola Mohalla, Bittu said a decision on this will be taken after the pact with PPP is signed in Chandigarh today.
