“Vinod Khanna, who did not bother to keep in touch with his voters after his electoral wins earlier, should be prepared to face “Punjabian da ghasun (fist)” this time,” warned PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa while addressing a press conference at the party office here today.
Welcoming Bir Devinder back into the party fold, Bajwa said Khanna had only delivered scripted dialogues (referring to his acting career) in his life.”
He accused his BJP rival of ignoring his constituency during his two terms as Member of Parliament.
“The people will not be fooled this time. They will ask him about the rampant loot in the state, especially the illegal mining in the area. They will also ask him what he has done for his constituency,” he said.
Former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said: “Bir Devinder’s unmatched wit will be a perfect cure to the SAD’s ‘foot and mouth’ disease.”
On the possibility of the party giving the PPCC chief post to vice-president Lal Singh for the duration of the elections, Bajwa said: “He is a senior leader and if the leadership decides so, I will be more than happy to work in his team”. On the party’s campaign strategy, Bajwa said: “I cannot comment on Capt Amarinder Singh’s plans. However, I will definitely campaign for him.”
Bir Devinder Singh said: “I fear Narendra Modi becoming the next Prime Minister. The secular polity of the country is under threat.”
