Amarinder thanks ECI for smooth conduct of polls

Amritsar : Newly-elected Member of Parliament from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh, on Sunday, put on record his gratitude towards everybody who participated in the election process, including people of Amritsar, polling officials, police and observers who were deputed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the smooth conduct of the elections.

In a statement issued here, he said, “Without the participation of the public and the cooperation and support of the officials, the elections would not have been possible in a smooth and peaceful manner.” He had special word of thanks for the Returning Officer and the Amritsar Deputy Commissioner and the Police Commissioner as far as their role in conducting the elections in a free and fair manner was concerned.

The former chief minister expressed his gratitude to the ex-servicemen. He said that the overwhelming love and affection provided to him by the ex-servicemen had contributed to a large extent towards his success. He said that it was actually the success of the people of Amritsar who had given him the honour to represent them in the highest legislature of the country.
