AMRITSAR: Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh has asked the union finance minister Arun Jaitely to clarify his stand on the “spate of fake cases” being registered against the Congress workers across the Amritsar parliamentary constituency “in sheer vengeance and vindictiveness as they did not vote for him (Jaitley)”.

Amarinder had defeated Jaitley by over 1 lakh votes in Amritsar in what was considered as one of the toughest electoral battles in the state.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Congress MP said that so far as he knew Jaitely, he was sure that he will not stoop so low to resort to vindictiveness and vendetta against those who did not vote for him.

“More than ten Cong ress workers in Amritsar have been implicated in false cases after the election results,” he said and added that he expected Jaitely to clarify his stand on the issue.

Amarinder said that it was obvious that the Akalis were feeling not only embarrassed but frustrated also as they had lost face before the BJP and Jaitley after the latter’s defeat from Amritsar.

The for mer CM added that he expected a better political approach and attitude from Jaitely towards his political opponents. “Your silence will only amount to your approval to all that is being done by the alliance gover nment across Amritsar,” he told Jaitely, while warning that this will only create bad blood.
