AMRITSAR: Describing the victory of Capt Amarinder Singh from Amritsar in the Lok sabha elections, former Congress MP Raj Babbar said the party should study and analyses his victory and “replicate this winning for mula in other parts of the country”.
Talking to media persons here on Sunday, the film star-turned politician said that despite the poor showing of the party at the national level, Capt Amarinder managed to win in Amritsar and his victory was the only saving grace for the party.
“One of the reasons for my coming to Amritsar was to find out the factors responsible for this outstanding victory besides thanking the Waheguru”, he said while referring to his visit to the Golden Temple earlier in the day.
Asked whether he had come across any specific reasons for the victory in Amritsar, Babbar said, “Unity in the rank and file of the party was a reason and also the hard work put in by the cadre. Then, of course, there was the stature of Amarinder himself ”.
He said Amarinder’s victory over his BJP rival Arun Jaitley, who is now the union finance minister, has added to his stature.
