Bajwa: Jaitley avenged his defeat in Punjab
Chandigarh: Describing the Union Budget as ‘totally disappointing’, Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday said the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley seemed to have avenged his defeat from Amritsar by ignoring this border state. He observed that the day was not far when the CM Parkash Singh Badal would start recalling the contributions made by the former PM Manmohan Singh.

It failed everybody’s expectations: Capt
Chandigarh: Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday said that the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Parliament had failed everybody’s expectations and more so of the Punjabis, who had been promised moon ahead of general elections. In a statement issued here, Capt Amarinder remarked, “Quite contrary to the so much hype generated by the NDA, this Budget at the end has turned out to be a mere wish-list of the BJP that it wished to do this and that without having any resources to back up those wishes.”

Bhattal criticises it
Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has said that the Union Budget was highly disappointing. She said it was old wine in new bottle. “There is no impetus to business, no sops for the industry and no new jobs promised for the unemployed youths,” she said in a statement, here. “Only Rs 100 crore has been earmarked for the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Parao’, scheme which is too meager,” she pointed out.
