Ludhiana : After the resentment from all corners over the issue of power crisis in state, the Opposition party Congress have planned to ‘gherao’ the Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP government over the same issue in Vidhan Sabha session, which commences on July 15.
Leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Sunil Jakhar strongly hit out at the state government and held the government responsible for power crisis in Punjab.
Jakhar was talking with media persons in Ludhiana after a meeting with city-based industrialists. Jakhar listened to the grievances and demands of the industrialists and assured them to raise their issues in the assembly session.
Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Sunil Jakhar said that the basic problem of industry is power crisis in the state and now the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) had imposed 12 hours power cut on industry, which added to the woes of industrialists.
Jakhar said that industrialists were harassed by Punjab Pollution Control Board, district administration and bureaucrats in the state and the same issues will be raised in the Vidhan Sabha.
Taking a dig at Punjab government, Jakhar said on December 8 in 2013 CM Parkash Singh Badal while inaugurating the power plant in Rajpuira claimed that Punjab is power surplus and in few months only the tall claims of government turns flat.
Apart from the issue of power, Jakhar said the Congress party will raise the issue of drugs, farmers concern, petty hike in MSP on wheat by the Centre, property tax, sand mining, unemployment and several other issues.
He said that Congress MLAs had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during a protest few days ago and now they will also take up the same issues in Assembly session.
Jakhar supports separate Gurdwara Committee for Haryana
After Congress state president Partap Singh Bajwa and Deputy leader of party in Lok Sabha Capt Amrinder Singh, CLP leader Sunil Jakhar also favoured a separate Gurdwara committee in Haryana. Jakhar said that it was the long pending demand of Sikhs of Haryana and Haryana government fulfilled that demand and passed the Bill of separate committee in Haryana. While refuting the allegations of Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal of blaming Congress party for establishing separate Gurdwara Committee in Haryana, Jakhar said if Badal was in favor of Gurdwara committee in Delhi then why not in Haryana.
