Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda) : Congress candidate Harminder Jassi today launched his campaign for the Talwandi Sabo bypoll after paying obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. He accused the state government of misusing administrative machinery to help the SAD candidate win the byelections.
He also visited the major religious places in Bathinda district, including Dera Rumi Wala. He paid obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib along with People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Badal.
Jassi said there was a dire need to tackle the increasing number of cancer cases in Talwandi Sabo, particularly in Jajjal and Giana villages.
On the diminishing role of the Congress in the state, he said, “The Congress is a major party and it will be a strong Opposition.” He said Talwandi Sabo - the land of Gurus - was hit by drug menace and unemployment.
“I was an MLA from 1992 to 2002 and the works which I could not initiate are still lying in a shambles,” he claimed. Jassi also said the Congress party president along with the other leaders would visit Talwandi Sabo on August 2 to start their fight against drug trafficking.
On the role of voters from Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa in Talwandi, he said, “I will not segregate between dera voters and others and will seek support from all sections of the society.”
